BREAKING NEWS: TOYOTA Receives Permission to Open Car Assembly Plant in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has just approved TOYOTA to open a car assembly plant in Cambodia worth about US $36.7 million, which will create about 150 jobs for Cambodians.

The plant will be built in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone.

There are no further details yet on this decision, but it was announced after a meeting between the Secretary-General of CDC, Sok Chenda Sophea, and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, Mikami Masahiro, on Wednesday, 7 September.

This is the third approval from the CDC to set up a car assembly plant in Cambodia, following Ford last year and GTV in June.
